Here were are, I have settled down to UK, in Manchester for the 5 up coming months...
Finally I went home (fortunatly my father wanted to stay to wait for me taking the plane), and took another flight the next week (Tuesday 7th) but for this time from Geneva (low cost flights don't operate every day of the week)
First cultural shock, I took one of those famous black English taxi : very spacious, up to 4 seats (there is no boot). And a left driving side !! I may be hit by a car some day, as I am not used to watch the road on the right side first...
I will work on a production line, and will have to improve the process, especially the collecting data process.
Everybody looks friendly, although I still don't catch everything, I even wonder if I do speak English... The accent is weird to me.
Starting date : Wednesday, more a discovery day that a real working day.
Once there the acounting manager took me to my accomodation.
I have my own room, a 125 feet square or ~12m², which quite good, all the furnitures are news.
From my window, the view is quite good, as I live in the 7th floor. I share the kitchen, the toilet and the bathroom with 2 others girls. They look nice although I haven't really talk to them yet.
Sonoco really settle me down properly. First necessarly items (like bed and kitchen stuff) are not included in the flat, but they were bought them for me.
A lot of thing that I wouldn't have bough myself like wine glasses, bathroom trash... or even a toilet brush :)
You can see most of them on the pictures.
With couple of my pictures (nice people and nice place to be) on the wall I finally feel home!
Next article, the first steps in Manchester :)
Departure from France... 2 trials
I was supposed to fly the 2nd of Feb from Chambery (there is a low cost which oprerates during the winter time between Manchester and Chmanbery). But one hour before (although I already checked in) all the flight were cancelled due to "severe fog in Chambery area". I let you imagine the big mess that 3 cancelled flights can produce especially when the airport staff don't know anything about how to handle this. Finally I went home (fortunatly my father wanted to stay to wait for me taking the plane), and took another flight the next week (Tuesday 7th) but for this time from Geneva (low cost flights don't operate every day of the week)
Arrival in Manchester
The second time everything went right, even if on the way to Geneva I saw some local fog. I took my flight, and arrived in raining Manchester. First cultural shock, I took one of those famous black English taxi : very spacious, up to 4 seats (there is no boot). And a left driving side !! I may be hit by a car some day, as I am not used to watch the road on the right side first...
The company
I will work for Sonoco, a manufacturer of tube packaging for food. Like the Pringles one :)I will work on a production line, and will have to improve the process, especially the collecting data process.

Where I am staying
I live in a student residence at 10min by foot from the city centre. I need to swipe a card twice to have access to the lift...
